B. E. Hopkins is a freelance writer and editor, and the author of The Impediments to Joy (a novel) and Model Homes (a short story collection). He also teaches English at Frederick Community College in Maryland.
His work has appeared in PEN International magazine, Steppe, Contrary, The Independent, and The Washington College Review, and he has translated catalogs for French artist Matthieu Kavyrchine, the Fondation Cartier, and the Fondation Christian et Yvonne Zervos. He has also written dozens of hours of courseware for NogginLabs, JetBlue, ABN-AMRO, Behavioral Tech, and other corporate clients.
As an editor, he has worked for Penguin Group (USA), HarperCollins, Saqi Books, Constable & Robinson, Boma Books, Macmillan, and Education Design, as well as Steppe and PEN International magazines. While earning his MA in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, he was the personal assistant to literary critic Wayne C. Booth.
